Death Note – Rain

It was sunny out when Matt was playing his Nintendo DS in the living room of his and Mello’s house. Matt was playing his new videogame and had a cigarette in his mouth.
Mello just came home. As he entered the front door he said “Matt, I’m home”
“…hey” Matt said, still engrossed with his videogame
Mello got mad when he entered the kitchen, which you could see the living room from, because the kitchen and the living room weren’t clean. It was Matt’s job to clean those two rooms; the other rooms were for Mello to clean, which he hadn’t time to do.
“MATT!” What the hell?!” Mello grew angrier by the second.
It started to rain, from dark black clouds covering the whole area.
“What?” Matt said calmly; he naturally never showed his nervous side but it was there. What did I do now? Better not try to make him madder, Matt thought to himself.
“I told you to clean the kitchen and the living room! It’s a Pigsty!” Mello yelled
“… What about the rest of the house? It’s dirty” Matt wasn’t thinking that, that comment would make Mello angrier than he was…
“I was busy unlike you! You just sit and play videogames and smoke all day long!!”
“Mello… Geez… I forgot, ok. I’ll get to it tomorrow”
Mello was walking to the living room with his laptop and a bar of chocolate, murmuring to himself, “that will be the first”. Mello bit his lower lip trying to control his anger
Mello was about to take his seat in the chair.
Did Mello have to get that mad?! So I forgot, GEES! Man, I’m glad that he isn’t going to be any angrier than he is now……Wait…Shit.
Matt dropped his DS, out of fear and nervous, because he knew something was going to happen, something that Mello would get angrier at.
Mello sat down and Matt glanced over at Mello, with his nervous looking face. His heart was beating faster and faster.
“What Matt?!” Mello was still angry.
“… N-n-nothing…” Matt was scared; he looked it even if he tried to seem calm. He never made Mello angrier when he was angry to begin with. Matt had never seen that before, and was scared to see what would happen.
“Whateve—” Mello said as he flipped the screen of his laptop open. What was on the background was a note that said ‘Mello is a girl, a girly girl’. That pissed off Mello even more. “—MATT!!!”
The rain was getting harder and harder
“N-now M-Mello c-clam dow—”
“—Shut the hell up!” Mello growled
“I-It was a joke…” please don’t hurt me
“Get out!!” Mello ignoring Matt’s excuse.
“What?” Matt was confused. Why, why leave?
“You heard me! Get the hell out of this house!” Mello pointing towards the front door.
At this point the rain was hard and was down pouring
“Huh?” Matt was shocked and confused
“That’s it!” Mello bursted. Mello pulled Matt to the front door and pushed him out.
Matt was still shocked as Mello slammed the door shut and locked it.
Matt started knocking on the door as he begged “Mello, come on let me in”
“Go away!”
“Come on it was just a joke. It’s raining…Let me in!”
With an evil tone Mello said “Get away now!!”
Matt tried and tried to get in, and gave up and left; he needed to find some protection from the rain and there was nothing around their house. He looked in his pockets to see if there was anything useful in them. All he found were a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, which can’t be used in the rain. Also he found his cell phone.
Mello laid on the couch, trying to get his anger under control, and turned on the TV to watch the news. At the bottom of the screen was an urgent warning saying there was an unpredicted fierce and dangerous rain storm and that there was lightning around Tokyo area, it also said the people should stay in doors until it passes.
Mello got up to open the door to see that Matt wasn’t there anymore and the car is still there, Matt left the car keys on the counter. Mello was scared now, from the urgent weather report. He ran back inside and dialed Matt’s phone number. As it rang, Mello was pacing saying “Matt, please pickup!” Mello tried and tried to call him, but he never answered. Matt isn’t answering, is he mad at me? I would be mad if I were him.  Darn it, Matt pick up! If anything has happened to you…, Mello thought as he is worrying about Matt.
Matt walked into the Tokyo Shopping District.
“Where the hell is everyone” Matt said to himself, looking around. “Usually the Tokyo Shopping District is jam packed with people even on rainy days”.
Still looking around Matt was confused. The stores there are open and no one is outside.
“Maybe I should enter one of these stores to get out of the rain” Matt said as he started walking to a store. Matt stopped suddenly, “Wait, if I do Mello might be in danger”
Matt kept walking through the rain, shivering from being soak and wet.
“Man, I can’t believe Mello kicked me out of the house and only over some stupid joke too! There is lightning. Mello!”
Mello hesitated, and grabbed the keys to the car and ran to the car. Mello had the feeling that Matt was at or heading towards the Tokyo Shopping District; he knew Matt so good.
On the way Mello had the window open to call for Matt, even if the rain would get in the car.
“Matt!...............Matt!..................Matt!.........Matt where are you?!”
5 to 10 minutes of searching, Mello spotted Matt, walking with his head down. He was racing towards him, honking so Matt would notice him.
Matt turned and stopped as he saw the speeding car racing to him. When Mello pushed the brake, too hard by the way, the car hit a huge puddle of rain and made a big splash that hit Matt. Matt glared at Mello.
“Oops…Sorry” Mello said trying so hard not to laugh, which seems funny
“Yeah…Right” Matt was being sarcastic
“Ok being sarcastic, funny… Now get in the car, I’ll take you home” Matt didn’t respond and was starting to walk the other way…
“Come on, Matt… I’m sorry”
Yeah right, Matt thought as he turned around and saw the sorry look on Mello’s face, which Mello never shown, ever. Matt got into the passenger’s side of the car to get out of the rain. Mello rolled up the windows. Surprisingly, the inside of the car wasn’t wet that much.
Matt was still mad; Mello knew it. Mello was sad as Matt didn’t even want to see him.
Matt was freezing from the rain, and Mello turned the heat on high.
“I hope this helps”, Mello said as he smiled like a child at Matt
“…” Matt was still cold, but at least it helps a little.
Before taking of, Mello leaned over and hugged Matt and started to cry. Matt was surprised, because those two things, Mello would never do; plus he would get wet too.
“I’m sorry Matt. I tried to call. The news said that this is a dangerous storm and that you should stay indoors. I’m sorry, I knew it was a joke, I—” Mello cried hard and it made Matt cry too
“I’m sorry too, Mello, I didn’t know why I did that” Mello looked up to Matt
“Matt… there’s nothing for you to be sorry about. I didn’t mean to get so mad. The only reason I kicked you out is because, sometimes I can’t control my anger and I was afraid if I would hurt you”
“!” Matt smiled; he was shocked and happy, because Mello never cared about anyone really.
“Matt?”
“Mello… lets go home…” Mello got up and got ready to leave
“Right”
The rain was lighter now and some of the clouds are disappearing
Mello drove home, but they didn’t leave the car.
Matt leaned over to Mello and kissed him on the cheek. Mello was shocked as both of them blushed
“I-I’m sorry”
“I already told you, there’s nothing for you to be sorry about”
“?... Uh…” Matt had a confused look on his face
“Oh… you meant the kiss?” Mello looked at Matt and smiled. “You don’t have to be sorry about that, Matt” Mello blushed even more, while Matt was smiling. Then Mello leaned over to Matt and kissed him. Both had enough courage after that and said
“I love you”. They said it at the same time.
“Matt… that’s why I care about you enough. I would never let anything hurt you, including me” Mello said
“Mel, I would never let anything hurt you either”
The sun came out and the rain and clouds disappeared. It was weird, why would it stop then? Weird…
Mello and Matt went inside the house. Matt dried off and joined Mello on the couch to watch the weather to see what happened.
The weatherman said
“This bizarre storm’s occurrence was unpredicted and –Wait hold on, something just came in. I just heard the storm disappeared out of nowhere, and—”
Mello turned of the TV, Matt was smiling
“You know what? That storm seemed to respond to us” Matt explained
“What? How do you know?” Mello lifted one eyebrow
“It was supposed to be sunny out all day, until the time when we were mad. And also it stopped and disappeared, out of the blue, after we made up.”
“Well weather is unpredictable”
“Yeah, but still it’s weird. It might happen”
“I guess you might be right”
Both of them were happy and smiled. They kissed each other; eager to start a new life with each other.
